The nation building in post-genocide Rwanda [1994] has very much reposed on the Rwandan cultural practices, commonly known as home grown solutions.  The concept has given name to a volume launched on 19 July 2019, in the Kigali Public Library by a group of 23 scholars and researchers. Sponsored by the Protestant University of Rwanda [ PIASS] and published by, Geneva and Editions CLE, Yaoundé, under the direction of two Rwandan scholars, Professors Tharcisse Gatwa, Journalist and theologian and Deogratias Mbonyinkebe, anthropologist, the volume describes and analyses the nature and depth of the “home grown solutions”,  including umuganda, gacaca, abunzi, ubudehe, imihigo, girinka munyarwanda; agakiriro; the management of wounded memory in a post-genocide context; reconciliation and healing; reconstruction of the social fabric through family; language and culture as factors of social cohesion and sustainable development.
