Lay Persons from churches in Sharing Knowledge PIASS Researchers!!

The wave of “Sharing Knowledge with Communities” training seminar for lay persons engaged in the life the churches was organized from August 26 to September 1st. 100 lay persons were invited in two batches [ from Sunday 26 up to Wednesday 29th morning, then from Wednesday 29th afternoon to Saturday 1st September. Lay persons gathered from the same parishes of the pastors who attended the June 2018 seminars. Like them, they read and discussed in groups findings of research published in two books: Governance in Protestant churches; and Care for the environment.
The seminars were opened by Rev Prof Viateur Ndikumana, the DVCA on behalf of the VC, presented a brief history of the Protestant University of Rwanda which started in 1970 as an ecumenical school of theology for the protestant churches. The school grew into a Faculty of Theology in 1990 and it became a fully-fledged university in 2010 specializing in social sciences. Today, the university has three faculties [theology and religious studies; Education; and Development studies] with more or less 15 programs for more or less 1300 students on two campus, Huye [Southern Province and Karongi, Western Province]. In cooperation with the University of Bamberg, Germany, PIASS initiated an International master program in Quality education; two new master programs in theology [Ethics and Leadership; Community Care and Development] have received an accreditation to start in this 2018-2019 academic year.
