In collaboration with the University of Bamberg, PIASS has organized a three days training for its academic staff, on Teaching in High Education, from 17 to 19 November 2015. This workshop the topic of which is “Didactics of Higher Education" is being mentored by Prof Annette Scheunpflug, chair of Pedagogy in the University of Bamberg, Germany.

As a starting point the professor explained the origin of Bologna in which Modular system is drawn from and which Rwandan, as well as other countries Higher education institutions are subjected to.   The Bologna framework is fundamental skills and competence based teaching and its implications enhance participative learning methods in Higher Education and self learning for students. It also sets up principles and guidelines for teaching in higher education emphasizing competences. 
The training is in line with PIASS plan for staff development and quality enhancement. Depending on the agreed availability of both PIASS and Bamberg University three to four more sessions are expected to take place in the near future.  Modules that are expected to be covered include:
  1. Higher Education Didactics , competence based program
  2. Curriculum Development
  3. Education Technology
Important outcome that are expected from this workshop include knowledge and ability to teach in higher education with skills on program development, class management and organization in line with didactics for higher education and curriculum development
