PIASS CHURCH LEADERS RETREAT

Posted December 26, 2014
PIASS CHURCH LEADERS RETREAT December 23, 2014.

The second retreat of PIASS Church Leaders took place on December 23rd, 2014 at PIASS Huye Campus.  Twenty participants from different churches were present. Each Church member was represented by its Leader along with a second designated person – either deputy or in charge of educational department.

The retreat was also attended by PIASS senior management including the Chancellor, Rev Dr Andre Karamaga, also General Secretary of the All Africa Conference of Churches, the chairman of the Board and President of ARIPES Archbishop Onesphore Rwaje, the PIASS Legal Representative Bishop Samuel Kayinamura and Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academics, all Deans and Directors.
The purpose of the Retreat was decided during the last PIASS General Assembly of February 2014 and the Board Meeting of September 2014 as “to boost ownership spirit of shareholders towards PIASS”.
After a spiritual input, three presentations were given. The first one is PIASS strategic orientations by the Deputy Vice Chancellor. The second one is PIASS the pride of Protestant Churches by the Deputy Legal Representative and third is the Effective ownership presented by the Chancellor.
All those presentations highlighted that, the survival and credibility of PIASS in general and the success of strategic orientations in particular will surely rely on Quality education delivered as well as the support of church members.
After discussions, with questions and comments, participants recommitted to boost their ownership towards PIASS by increasing their membership fees, making ¨PIASS known at grass root level and transforming PIASS into Protestant university.  This recommitment was formulated into twelve recommendations which will be submitted to the General Assembly for approval before implementations.
